Essing Bridge Gatehouse

Highlight • Bridge

The entrance gate to Essing over the 46 m long wooden bridge, today an admired historical monument and photo motif. The round arches are clearly visible on the town hall square.

The old bridge house on the market square in Essing is also known as the Bruckturm and is a listed building. It's a beautiful building and leads through the gate straight onto the old wooden bridge.

September 13, 2025,Tatzlwurm-Holzbrücke – Burg Randeck Runde von Einthal
We spent such a wonderful day in Essing in the Altmühl Valley. This cute little village has so much to offer, and it's beautifully situated right in the barren, rocky landscape—a real wow factor! 😍 We're so thrilled, we'll definitely be back! ☺️

On our wedding day it should be a special hike. This small place, which seems to be glued to the rock face with the castle high up on this rock face, that is something special.
And then the Tatzlwurm 🤣🤣🤣 the name alone had already done it to me!!! (The long wooden bridge) was of course not to be missed!!! …

Reminiscent of @🌳Tom🌈 and @Rombea of Essing and the Blautopf refreshed old memories yesterday, while the Schulerloch accompanied us for years...a great tour through the beautiful Altmühltal. We also had to pay a visit to the Schulerloch, unfortunately no photos

A stalactite cave worth seeing, but no comparison with the Bing cave binghoehle.de.

Great hike in the Altmühltal 🥾. I really liked the tour, the paths were easy to walk and there was a lot to see.
For a voluntary payment of 2 € you can explore Burg Randeck 🏰 from top to bottom and in beautiful Essing there is an art/sculpture path and the second longest wooden bridge in Europe on the …

Great weather ☀️, great area ⛰️ - fully motivated we got out of the air-conditioned car 🚗 and were greeted by a blazing heat 🥵 We quickly rejected our plan to storm the castle ruins 🏰 Randeck - just walk a little in the Altmühltal...
Arrived in Essing we were blown away by the panorama.
But before we knew it, …

For German Unity Day, I treated myself to a special treat in the Altmühltal. With the best hiking weather, I chose a few beautiful destinations and gave myself a wonderful day for the holiday. Cave (7 € entrance fee), in which at the end of the tour a small animated film briefly and very vividly presents the individual epochs of history. Very well done especially for kids. 👍
