Lorsch Abbey Gatehouse (King's Hall)

Highlight • Historical Site

Around the old Lorsch monastery you will find many nice cafés and bars that offer the perfect end to a tour. The monastery complex itself can also be visited. Here you get an extensive insight into the history of the monastery. The entire complex is a real highlight and is not a UNESCO World Heritage Site for nothing.

Evangelical Church Langwaden

Highlight • Religious Site

History of the church in Langwaden
Langwaden already owned a chapel in pre-Reformation times. It stood in an open field about a kilometer northeast of the village. At that time, Langwaden, which only had a few houses, must have belonged to Bensheim, which was Electoral Mainz and therefore Catholic. At the end of the 17th century, after the Reformation was introduced in Langwaden as well as in most of the surrounding places, Langwaden was part of the church in Jugenheim, where people also went to worship.
In 1621 Langwaden came to the Landgraviate of Hesse and became a branch municipality of Schwanheim. During this time, the desire arose to have his own church soon. This wish and plan could also be realized. In the 17th century, two single, wealthy women lived in Langwaden.
In their old age, both of them made the church possible and financed with their wealth. With their property of 25 acres L. they bought the right to live in the hospital in Bensheim.
