Highlight • Beach

Nice little beach by the lakeside. A great spot to eat ice cream and feed the ducks. Plenty of refreshment options and facilities nearby too.

School Knott

Highlight • Summit

Like Orrest Head, School Knott's grassy summit reveals stupendous views down onto Windermere (both lake and town) and across the fells of southern and central Lakeland. From here, the craggy citadels of the Langdale Pikes look particularly dramatic. It's difficult to surmount School Knott and not want to immediately head into the mountainous heart of the national park.

School Knott Tarn

Not deep enough to swim properly but ok for a quick dip

Brant Fell

Highlight • Viewpoint

The hike up to Brant Fell is quite easy, though some of the paths may be a bit muddy, especially when it's been raining for a while. The views from the summit are just spectacular.

Post Knott

Highlight • Summit

At 630 feet (191 m), Brant Fell might not be the tallest top in the Lake District, but the views down onto Windermere from here are really great. It is also close to town, so accessible for a quick walk to get some views.

Nice stroll uphill from Bowness up the Dales Way, add Brant Fell to the circuit and return via Helm Road.
