View of Reifenstein Castle Ruins

The ruins of Reifenstein Castle are enthroned on a hilltop about 100 meters above the Pölstal valley. The Reifensteiner family, a branch of the Liechtenstein family, probably built it in the twelfth century. The property was inhabited until the beginning of the 19th century. But during the war against Napoleon it was decided to remove the roof to prevent the French from billeting. As a result, the castle fell into disrepair.
Today you can only marvel at it from afar, but it is always a spectacular sight!

Sternschanze Sauerbrunn
