Historic Hammer Factory Estate

The industrial settlement Hammer is located outside Nuremberg's city center, east in the district of Laufamholz. This had advantages and disadvantages in earlier centuries. Disadvantage: The settlement did not enjoy the protection of the city wall and was destroyed in the second margrave war (1552). The reconstruction of the hammer mill as a wire drawing mill was carried out by the Kanler family. In order to prevent renewed destruction, the area was surrounded by a wall (except the river side).
