Castelluccio di Norcia was one of the places most affected by the 2016 earthquake. Some of the historic buildings, such as the church of Santa Maria Assunta, were completely destroyed as were most of the houses. Very little remains of the town, born close to a castle built by the Norcia government around the 16th century. The fortification was used to defend the eastern borders and the pastures on the plain. All that remained of the fortress itself was a portal which also collapsed during the earthquake. Today the town is slowly reborn, focusing above all on tourism and local products. However, there are still few alternatives for those wishing to spend a night in the village, both for food and accommodation.

Beautiful town, whose historic center was devastated by the 2016 earthquake. To visit between June and July in which we witness the flowering of the fields.

August 10, 2021,Sibillini: Castelluccio e la Piana con Anna
Last day on the Sibillini and it was impossible not to do Castelluccio and its splendid plain. Starting from Montegallo, the climb to the Forca di Presta is basically divided into two parts. The first up to the Galluccio pass, from here a couple of kilometers downhill to the junction for Arquata del Tronto and then the last five kilometers …
