Granite boulders 692 m above sea level
The rock section was consecrated as a natural memorial on June 8th, 1922 for the members of the Rennsteig Club who died in World War I and for the founder of the Rennsteig Club, Prof. Hertel, who died on April 19th, 1910. In the 1920s, the 100 km Rennsteig ski relay race, which ended at the war memorial near Ernstthal, began on the Glöckner.
