"Why look far away..." - having just returned from the Hainich, we hiked the border path in Eppenbrunn today in the most beautiful autumn weather: simply fantastic! Along the Altschloßfelsen we followed the Altschloßpfad, however, as you can see more of the rocks that way (the border path runs over the rocks here).

Half of France seemed to be on the way to the Altschlossfelsen today ;-) But after the rocks we luckily didn't meet so many hikers anymore.

yesterday it was time again, we wanted to go hiking in the Palatinate.

We hadn't been to the area around Eppenbrunn before and I had only used it once, so our route was called "Grenzweg Eppenbrunn".

We set off quite early, at 8:45 a.m. from the car park at Spießweiher and hiked anti-clockwise.

A highly recommended tour with three very different sections: the wild and romantic landscape of the Stüdenbach and Schöneichel valleys, the idyllic and secluded path along the German-French border, and the route past the impressive Altschlossfelsen rocks (an absolute must for visitors to the Palatinate, even if you'll encounter a lot of day-trippers here).
