Sorell Hotel Zürichberg

Highlight • Restaurant

I can still remember my first visit here. It was a few years ago, but the memory remains.
On a warm summer day we walked to the Züriberg restaurant, we were all thirsty🍻, but when we wanted to drink our well-earned beer we were told that we don't serve alcohol.😥🤣
Back then the restaurant still belonged to the Zurich Women's Association.

Not far from the zoo there is a spectacular view of the glittering Lake Zurich. At around 40 kilometers long, it connects Zurich with Rapperswil and has shaped life in the region for centuries.

Georg Büchner Memorial

Highlight • Monument

The 140-year-old tomb and memorial by Georg Büchner was restored in 2015.
Georg Büchner, playwright, revolutionary and lecturer at the University of Zurich, died of typhus on February 19, 1837 in Zurich and was buried two days later in the old Krautgarten cemetery on what is now Krautgartengasse. When the cemetery was closed in 1875, at the request of the Society of German Students in Zurich, its bones were transferred to the grave and memorial on the Germania hill in Zurich-Oberstrass, which has since been a reminder of the life and work of Georg Büchner.
His most famous works are: "Dantons Tod" and "Woyzeck"
The Georg Büchner Prize has been awarded since 1951 as an official literary prize, regardless of regional roots.

The Rigiblick cable car runs from Universitätstrasse up to Rigiblick in Zurich's Oberstrass district. Since it opened in 1901, it has been modernized several times. In 1979, it was put into operation as the first fully automatic cable car in Switzerland and is used by around 600,000 passengers a year.

View from the Orelli Fountain

Highlight • Viewpoint

From the Orelli fountain you can enjoy a fantastic panorama over Lake Zurich and the Alps beyond - Rigi, Pilatus, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The fountain commemorates Susanna Orelli-Rinderknecht, who founded the Zurich Women's Association in 1894. The association offered women apprenticeships, social security and regular working hours - a progressive approach to professional equality at the time.

Beautiful path on the edge of the forest below the Zürichberg. When visibility is good, there is a great panoramic view of the city, Lake Zurich and the Uetliberg-Albis chain.
