Rigi Kaltbad–First Railway Station

The Kaltbad station, opened in 1871, was initially a simple wooden shelter. Just two years after its opening, the wooden building was dismantled in 1873 and rebuilt near the Romiti-Felsentor stop. Only with the construction of the Rigi-Scheidegg Railway was the new station building enlarged, and the square building was extended on all four sides by a generous canopy, which also served as a platform roof. For cost reasons, the RSB track system was not fully connected to the VRB line, but was laid out at right angles to the VRB tracks south of the station building. Passengers had to cross the tracks to change trains.[3] The walls and wood paneling of the station were decorated with wood carvings. In 1929, the building was destroyed by the onset of winter and replaced by a new one. In 1959, the transfer table was replaced by a switch. The current building dates from 2013.
