Very nice hike. At the beginning of the route, however, there were significant obstacles caused by fallen trees. Lots of climbing required. Status 09/2023. But the hike itself is sensational. If you don't arrive by train, you should use the hiking car park in Blankenstein (beginning of Rennsteig / Selbitzplatz).

Today, thanks to my job ticket, we took the train to Marxgrün in the beautiful Höllental valley. From Blechschmidtenhammer, we continued through the Muschwitztal valley, the Green Belt of the former German-German border, to Bad Steben.
Highly recommended, but the Moschwitztal/Grenzerweg (Frankenwaldsteigla) section is unsuitable for cyclists due to numerous fallen trees and cleared areas.
