Arbersee House

Highlight • Restaurant

In 2016 the old Arberseehaus was demolished. After around two years of construction, the magnificent new building was opened in the summer of 2018. With its rustic charm, the new lake house is in no way inferior to the old one and offers hikers Bavarian cosiness and first-class food.

Great Arber Lake

Highlight • Lake

As a cirque lake, the Great Arbersee is a relic from the last ice age. A special feature is the swinging lawn. The oscillating lawns, known as floating islands, are mainly found on the western edge of Lake Arbersee. They cover around two hectares of water and were created in the 19th century when the Arbersee was dammed by more than half a meter for the timber drift. In the process, moor blankets detached from the current lake floor and have been floating on the water surface ever since.

Very beautiful and sometimes challenging hiking trail up to the Arber. The effort for the ascent (descent) is worth it, if only because of the nature. Sure-footedness and sturdy shoes are essential!

A really great round in beautiful autumn weather, past the Mittagsplatzl, a strenuous climb and a wonderful view over the landscape and over the clouds.
Short refreshment and then we went back to the Arbersee.

Beautiful circular hike.
Not suitable for "absolute hikers" Sturdy shoes and sure-footedness required. Paths lead over hill and dale, forest paths, gravel paths and rocks. But the view is really worth the effort!

Motto: Auerhahn🦃🔥🤪 500th Tour🍾🥳
Because Mr. Auerhahn🦃 and Mrs. Auerhahn🦃 are doing some 🔥stuff🥰🫂, the Chamer Hütte🏠🧀🍖🍺 on the Kleiner Arber⛰️ is closed😝, and I had to reschedule the tour🥾😡🤪🤣.
Tour:
From the paid parking lot (€4 day ticket) at the Großer Arbersee, first along a forest gravel path, then steadily over hill and dale up to the Großer Arber. …

Today I escaped the fog at home and ran a lap around the Mittagsplatzerl from the Arbersee in bright sunshine

Today I escaped the fog at home and went from the Arbersee via the Mittagsplatzerl to the Großer Arber.
The climb is very rocky but really beautiful.
The descent from the Arber to the Arbersee is also very blocked and quite challenging.
All in all a great option!!

A strenuous tour, especially with the changeable weather, but highly recommended for anyone who likes exciting, varied paths. Sure-footedness and good hiking shoes should not be missing.
