It is located on the outskirts of Keitum. Many famous personalities can be found in the cemetery and the Seeferkerkirche also impresses with its simple beauty from the inside.
It got its name after Severin of Cologne, a 4th century bishop. The church stands on the highest elevation of the Sylt Geestkern. At this point there was an Odin shrine in pre-Christian times. The church is mentioned for the first time in 1240. Official investigations into the preservation of monuments have shown that the construction of the roof truss of the church can be dated to 1216. It is the oldest religious building in Schleswig-Holstein.
