May 18, 2023,DRW Etappe 6 Ingolstadt- Affecking/Kelheim

Started in Ingolstadt today and mostly drove along the banks of the Danube to Weltenburg Monastery. From there by ship through the Danube Gorge to Kehlheim. Kelheim has a beautiful downtown area, and once you're in Kelheim, climbing the mountain and seeing the Liberation Hall is a must. I also took the 165 steps up the tower with me. The …

June 16, 2025,von Kelheim nach Ingolstadt

Today's tour began with a very beautiful boat trip on the Danube to Weltenburg. We had already taken the boat here in 2019 and enjoyed it as a welcome change. We found the Danube Cycle Path to Ingolstadt to be so-so.
We were happy to return to Ingolstadt, though.

6. Stage from Kelheim to Ingolstadt.
We actually wanted to go by ship through the Danube breakthrough to Weltenburg. But it wasn't possible. Too little water in the Danube.
So we went uphill by bike.
Partially unrideable for us. We pushed a part through the forest. We rode the other part on the normal road. We should have done that …

As an exception, this time we took the train to Ingolstadt with rented e-bikes and from there to Weltenburg Monastery, where a little refreshment was waiting for us.

The worst doesn't come at the end, but right at the beginning. And so it goes steeply uphill in Kelheim and then down rapidly in Weltenburg. The rest of the route leads comfortably along the Danube and through idyllic landscapes. In Vohburg we take a short break and enjoy a small Italian lunch.

July 4, 2023,🚲 Ingolstadt - Kehlheim Dienstag Tag 2

🚲 Day 2 of my Danube trip from Ingolstadt - Kehlheim. A few changes across the Danube during the tour. First change at Großmehring on the St2335 over a narrow foot and bike path, not so great to drive. At the end a gravel descent. Continue along the Danube to the next bridge - change sides to Oberdünzing. The next …
