In the past, the source of the Sohlquelle was a meeting place for the Neuendorfers, Nantenbachern and also the Sackenbachers. Hunters, forest workers, herdsmen and Sunday strollers regularly took a break there, refreshing themselves and quenching their thirst. In wartime, the source served as a refuge and hiding place for the citizens. Thus it is reported in old traditions: "In the war year 1866 almost all inhabitants of Neuendorf and Nantenbach fled out of fear of the Prussians into the forest.
