The Orthodox Cathedral, dedicated to the "Ascension of the Lord" (Catedrala "Înălțarea Domnului"), is the largest religious building in Târgu Mureș. It was built between 1925 and 1934 according to the plans of the Timișoara architect Victor Vlad in the shape of a Greek cross. The cathedral was consecrated on December 2, 1934.
