The route is surprisingly well separated from other traffic and where you have to cross main roads, the cycle paths are well marked and the drivers in Ticino are extremely considerate. I always had the right of way, as did the pedestrians. The tour is best done on a racing bike.

From Tenero through the vegetable garden 🍅🥬🌽🍇 of Ticino to Bellinzona. You pass rice and corn fields, zucchini, sunflowers....
🐂 🐎 and a blueberry plantation. The cycle path is well developed and signposted.
On the way back we discovered the brand new Lidl and did some shopping straight away.

By midday the rain had stopped and the sun came out. It was too late for a hike, so I used the warm sunshine and the long rest of the day for a trip to Bellinzona, just 20 km away, with its 3 castles, which received the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
