Verzasca Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge

This beautiful little bridge, which was only built for cyclists and pedestrians, leads from the suburb of Gordola over the Verzasca to Locarno.

Located near the mouth of the Verzasca river in Lake Maggiore, the bridge connects the two banks of the municipalities of Tenero-Contra and Gordola.
The pedestrian and bicycle bridge between Bellinzona and Locarno allows a 120-meter-long crossing of the natural course of the Verzasca river.
The idea of the projector arose from the observation and interpretation of the place. In this sense, the "Ponte dei balzi" bridge in Lavertezzo in the Verzasca valley was the starting point for the development of the project, which, with a clear and special structural gesture, at the same time enabled a reduction in material through the use of steel.
