Pilgrimage Church, Lockenhaus

Highlight • Religious Site

The pilgrimage church in Lockenhaus is an impressive building in the Baroque style, the foundation stone of which was laid in 1656. It is particularly famous for the largest church organ in Burgenland, which has been playing since 2003 and attracts numerous visitors. Inside the church, you will be amazed by the magnificent altar of the Virgin Mary and the miraculous image of "The Mother of Good Counsel". The mystical "Black Madonna" is located in the crypt.

Esterházy Trail Enduro Line (Black)

Highlight (Segment) • MTB Park

At the end of the Esterhaźy Trail you have three different options for ending the trail. Each option is marked with a sign; both the degree of difficulty and the course of the trail. As I'm always looking for a challenge I chose the black line which in my opinion is no more than a red section. Here, however, in contrast to the previous trail, things really get down to business. The trail becomes very narrow and steep and is heavily exposed. There is one small stone drop after the other and the turns are fairly flat and tight. A mistake or a little uncertainty is definitely not a pleasant experience because, as described above, the trail is very exposed and tempts you to simply open the brakes. I can only recommend this to good bikers who feel safe on their bikes, because you really don't want to lay down pretzels here because then you'll fly for a relatively long time until you reach the ground or maybe you're lucky enough to be "caught" by a tree. Believe me when I write here that you don't want to get to know either of the two options. The part is relatively easy to master, even for beginners, but controlled braking is a prerequisite! I can only recommend this option to you and wish you a lot of fun!

Geschriebenstein Summit Cross

Highlight • Summit

As already mentioned in other comments, not exactly at the summit, but it definitely deserves the designation as a summit cross. Beautiful aluminum cross anchored on a rock. At the right time of year and day, it can also be wonderfully depicted with the sun in the background.

The summit cross is a little way away from the summit, because the beautiful lookout tower is located there. However, it is right on the path and cannot be overlooked. The path is easy to walk. No special skills or equipment are required. The summit cross and the lookout tower are already in Hungary.

From the 862 meter high Großer Hirschenstein you do not have a magnificent view, but you can take a relaxed rest at the summit cross. There is also a transmission mast on the mountain.
