Villa Bottini (Lucca)

This beautiful urban villa in Lucca (built in the second half of the XVI century by Paolo Buonvisi) takes its name from a noble local family who lived there until the early 1900s.
It has the shape of a parallelepiped surmounted by a lookout lodge. It is located in the center of an elegant garden enclosed by a adorned with Renaissance windows and three portals (the main access portal is located on Via Elisa).
Inside the building, on the ground floor, you can admire the evocative decoration of a cycle of frescoes with mythological and allegorical scenes made by Ventura Salimbeni at the end of the sixteenth century.
It is currently used by the municipality of Lucca, as the seat of the Culture Office.

Church of San Michele Arcangelo

Originally founded in 777, the church underwent major renovations in the 12th century. Further changes were made in the 16th century, including raising the height of the medieval church, replacing the wooden roof structure with a vaulted ceiling, and adding a portico to the front facade. The interior of the church is home to several notable works of art, including two paintings from the school of Zacchia il Vecchio and a 14th-century fresco of the Madonna enthroned with two angels. The bell tower, built in 1797, is a beautiful example of the late Baroque style.
