The classification medium difficult is definitely not correct. Challenging climbing passages have to be overcome here.

Sideritis Gorge

Highlight • Canyon

On our way, we made a detour into Sideritis Canyon. Just getting inside required climbing, and the rest of the way would have been a real climb for which we weren't equipped. So we turned back after a short distance, impressed by the incredibly mighty rock faces.

Trig Point with Sea View

Highlight • Summit

It was very tiring. There are lines, so be careful. Always start with the canyon. Not the other way around. And once started it is very difficult to go back as the passages up are very steep. It took me about 3 hours for the round trip. And I'm by no means inexperienced. But the view makes up for the effort. Have fun everyone.

View of the Aegean Sea and Islands

Highlight • Viewpoint

The entire route requires two important items: an app to navigate the trail. There are too many paths outside the canyon, which can make it easy to lose your way. And you shouldn't be afraid of heights for the gorge closest to the road.

If you follow the route as indicated in the app, the hike begins quietly and pleasantly. The first section is indeed an easy walk through the forest, with few technical difficulties. Here you can truly enjoy the nature and the views, and it's a perfect warm-up for what's to come.

The second part of the hike takes you to the mountain and the first gorges. This section is also manageable, with a few rocky sections that offer a bit of an extra challenge, but still manageable for most people. You'll notice you have to pay a little more attention, but it's still a perfectly manageable challenge.

But then... come the last two gorges. This is where things get really tough. The route changes from a walk to a climb, and the scrambling begins. But the real challenge lies in the very last gorge. Here, you have to climb over rocky ledges, several meters high, without any safety equipment or ropes. This makes it particularly risky.

The fact that there are no ropes or other safety measures makes this section of the route quite irresponsible. It's a section where you really have to be careful and where things can easily go wrong, especially for those unaccustomed to climbing at such heights. It's not without reason that I saw people turn around and not continue along the way. This section should definitely be made safer, for example, by adding ropes or other safety measures.

All in all, it was a beautiful, but also somewhat dangerous, experience. The view was fantastic, but the final gorge made it a bit less enjoyable. If you're looking for a challenging climb and have rock climbing experience, this might be the adventure for you. But I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for the average hiker.

Plouma Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

To be honest, this route is anything but “moderately difficult” - for beginners or inexperienced hikers, the steep ascents (climbing up rock faces) are a bit of a challenge. If I want to go “hiking”, I don't expect to have to climb. But great route - just more demanding than expected. :-)
