The centuries-old sawmill 'De Rat' is located on the Frisian Geeuw River between the towns of IJlst and Sneek. This mill was built in 1683 but is still in operation today. 'De Rat' means "the rat" in English and specializes in sawing pine, larch, and elm.

Theater Sneek was founded in 2008 in the former post office on Westersingel and is part of the Sneek cultural district. Construction of the new theater began in July 2010 on the site of the former post office. The post office was demolished for this purpose. The theater performances were relocated to the Noorderkerk church on the other side of the canal. The design of the new building was by the architectural firm Alberts en Van Huut.

The overflowing horn symbolizes the material prosperity of the fortunate person who encounters it. But the golden sphere constantly rotates on its axis, so that the water, like the influx of fortune, becomes an unpredictable force. The abundance that happens to be showered upon us can be taken away just as quickly by fate. Just look at the history of Sneek.

In the heart of the atmospheric city of Sneek you will find the equally atmospheric Theater Sneek. With its characteristic appearance, partly due to the 23 meter high stage tower, the theater is a real eye-catcher in the Waterpoortstad. The beacon also indicates which genre is playing in the theater that evening. If you are looking for a cultural evening, you can visit this special Theater of Sneek during a weekend in Sneek or experience a Concert in the Poppodium Het Bolwerk on the other side of the water.

This fountain is located in the Sneek city center canal, just behind the famous Sneek Water Gate, "De Waterpoort." I didn't find this fountain visually appealing at all; the colors were somehow too bright, it's hard to describe. The Sneek Water Gate definitely steals the show from the Fortuna Fountain!

Theater Sneek is a medium-sized theater in the Stationsbuurt of the Dutch city of Sneek. The theater was founded in 2008 in the former post office on the Westersingel and is part of Cultural Quarter Sneek. Theater Sneek is the successor to the Amicitia Theater, which was closed at the beginning of this century and merged with CineSneek, as the city theater of Sneek. Theater Sneek has been one of the organizers of the Sneker Simmer summer festival since 2009. In July 2010, construction of the new theater began on the site of the former post office. To inform residents of the Zuidwesthoek about the new theater and its program, a major tour of six places will be held in the summer of 2012. Construction of the theater should be completed in October 2012. The Cultural Quarter and theater will be officially opened on November 1 and 2, 2012. However, the first performance, The State Opera of Tatarstan by La Traviata, will already be performed on October 28. Once construction is completed, Theater Sneek will be a so-called middle theater with 620 seats. The theater has two halls, one of which is outdoors (the Noorderkerkzaal). Next to the building is the independent theater-café KRAMER, which can also be reached from the foyer via a direct passage. The largest theater hall of Theater Sneek has been given the name Tüöttenzaal (pronounced: teutenzaal). The small hall of the theater is the Noorderkerkzaal, the former temporary location of the theater on the Kerkgracht. The tüötten were traveling traders, who mainly sold textiles.
