Need a break or just a cup of coffee? It's always busy in good weather, as the monastery is conveniently located on several beautiful cycling routes. There's also a small shop at the monastery where you can buy various abbey beers.

Terrace and nice shop with its own beer

The border between Belgium and the Netherlands, established in 1843, runs from border stone 177a of the St. Benedictuslaan diagonally through the green, over the 'De Kluis', across the terrain, through the buildings to border post 178, which stands at the back of the monastery grounds. On the road surface of 'De Kluis' the border is indicated with a white line and the flags of Nl and Be.

Do you want to cycle through nature to the Achelse Kluis? Then definitely add this path to the route. Forest, heath and fens with more than enough space for everyone.

The Achelse Kluis is partly located on the territory of Hamont-Achel (Belgium), but also on the territory of Valkenswaard (Netherlands).

Great place for coffee and pie

Something different, a beautiful wooden suspension bridge in the green nature. It wobbles a bit, but not too much.
