The connection of Brabant with Holland over the Hollands Diep has a long history. A railway bridge was built in 1872, followed by a road bridge in 1936. In 1978, the Moerdijkbrug monument was erected at the bridge.

In 1978, the Moerdijkbrug monument was erected at the bridge. The monument on the Brabant bank at the bridge commemorates the completion of the new road bridge that year. It consists of two sawn-off bridge girders that embrace the old monument that was placed against the side of the road bridge in 1936: a female figure surrounded by the coats of arms of twelve cities from the North and South, where the Chambers of Commerce had campaigned for the construction of the road bridge at the time. Bridge over the Hollands Diep

The bridge will be closed from April 2 to the end of June 2024 due to work.

The bridge will be renovated from April 2, 2024. During the work, the bridge will be closed and a (significant) diversion will apply. If everything goes according to plan, the bridge will be open again on June 24, 2024. Use it to your advantage :).
