Big Spotters Hill, 22 meters high, was created in 2002 as a viewpoint for the Floriade 2002. It is made of sand and earth that was released when digging ditches and ponds. MainPoort by Lehner Gunther has been on the hill since 2014.

Beautiful large park forest with lots of water and grassy meadows. Lots of cycle paths, sometimes winding, with very different quality of the asphalt. Don't forget the part south of the A9, much quieter and with some nice gravel paths.

Big Spotters Hill is a grassy mound in the shape of a square pyramid. The hill is 42 meters high and was built on an artificial island as a viewing point for the Floriade 2002 in Haarlemmermeer. It is made from the sand and earth that was released when ditches and ponds were excavated on the Floriade site. The shape is based on the Pyramid of Cheops in Egypt. The work of art Space Temple by Auke de Vries has been on top since 2002, but in 2004 the work of art was destroyed by a storm. Since 2014 there is a new object: Mainport by Lehner and Gunther architects. This structure is 15 meters high and has the contours of a gate. The arch-shaped openings are oriented to the four cardinal directions. Among runners, the Big Spotters Hill is especially popular for hill training. Several times a year events are held around the pyramid, such as various running competitions and Mysteryland.

Large park at the south of Amsterdam - very ample. With spaces for all kind of activities: from horseback riding to bbq'ing, to kayaking or trail running. It's very popular as a "nature scape" from the city center.

The Amsterdamse Bos is three times the size of Central Park in New York, and twenty times the size of the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. The forest is entirely hand-built under the name Bosplan. This was an employment project in the crisis years of the 1920s and 1930s.

The name already gives it away a bit. This pond is a lot bigger than the Kleine Vijver a bit further. Incidentally, both ponds are connected to each other. There is also a canoe rental at the Grote Vijver.
