Speinshart Monastery is always worth a visit

If you didn't know, you'd never suspect such a vast monastery complex in Speinshart. The monastery church, with its lavish stucco work and rich furnishings, is one of the most important in southern Germany. In addition to the stucco work, note the carved stringers of the pews, and don't forget the Steinmeyer organ. It's best to take a guided tour!

The monastery was founded in 1230 and belongs to the Cistercian order. It has played an important role in the religious and cultural development of the region over the centuries.

Speinshart Monastery was built in the 12th century as a Romanesque monastery complex. The monastery and church are one of the most important and beautiful monuments in the Upper Palatinate. The monastery itself is not open to visitors for viewing the interior, but the church itself, built in the 17th century in a Baroque style, is worth a visit.

In addition to information on the "Most Beautiful Natural Wonder in Germany" (2013), guided tours are also offered here for individuals and groups, namely Rauher Kulm, the town church and the town. The exhibitions with numerous finds from the archaeological excavations, the Bavaria-Bohemia Geopark and the Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park can be viewed in the newly built Kulm Terrace with information center.
