The gatekeepers at the Nabburg Gate guarded the entrance to the city. The upper floors of the towers housed detention cells, comparable to today's sobering-up cells. Inmates were usually only there at night; during the day they had to help with the construction and maintenance of the fortifications.

Great value for money and a great beer garden, perfect for a rest.

The Vils comes from Vilseck via Hahnbach to Amberg and flows via the Naab into the Danube and the Black Sea. In the city there are many beautiful bridges and footpaths along the Vils. It runs through the former state garden show grounds.

The Ziegeltor is the northeastern city gate of Amberg.

The Basilica of St. Martin was built in 1421 and is the largest Gothic hall church in the Upper Palatinate. In addition to its size and the outstanding tower, which dominates the cityscape of Amberg with its height of 93 m, it is above all the numerous stained glass windows that make St. Martin a building worth seeing.
