The medieval fortress of Stigliano was first mentioned in 1152 as a feudal property of the Bishop of Treviso. However, its origins may date back to Roman times due to its location in the "graticolato" area. In 1158, it was entrusted to the Tempesta family of Noale and then to the Teutonic Knight Aldobrandino da Superno. Built in a strategic position, alongside the Muson dei Sassi stream, it marked the border between the territories of Padua and Treviso. Therefore, it was the scene of numerous brutal battles until the end of the fourteenth century. It was here, however, that the disputes between the Carraresi and the Serenissima Republic of Venice began. It was the Venetians who finally conquered it in 1520, when it was sold to the Priuli family, who transformed it into a typical Venetian villa of the time. The entire complex then became the property of the Venier family, who further renovated it. Today, only the northeast corner tower remains of the original castle.

If you're traveling with bicycles, you'll need to take the car ferry from Lido-St. Nicolo to Tronchetto. This runs approximately every 50 minutes. The bicycle entrance from Tronchetto to Piazza Roma is very well-designed and safe. The vaporettos to/from Lido don't carry bicycles. A single trip costs 9.50 plus 1.50 per bicycle and ferry. The single ticket is valid for 75 minutes. This isn't enough to take all three ferries from Chioggia to Venice. The journey by bicycle on Pelestrina or Lido takes longer, so we always missed exactly one ferry. It's worth getting a multi-day ticket (25 euros for 24 hours; 35 euros for 48 hours; 45 euros for 72 hours) plus the three required bicycle tickets. This depends on how long you're staying in Venice. With the VeneziaUnica card, you can buy all the necessary tickets for public transport and cultural visits online in advance. The card can be printed at the machine using a QR code or PNR code.

Done today for the first time, well-maintained ground and I was very satisfied. First part with important slopes but that lets you take the climbing rhythm. Central part in the middle of the woods with the most important peaks, but now the challenge is launched. Light final part with the last few hundred meters with a spectacular view of Montebelluna and the plain up to the Euganean Hills. Also recommended for downhill.
