Located in the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene in Fratta di Tarzo, it is a historic symbol of Venetian identity. Made from over 3,000 pieces of tree roots felled by Storm Vaia, it is the largest wooden lion in the world, standing over 7 meters tall and 10 meters long. The work embodies the values of strength, protection, and justice of the Serenissima Republic. A long-standing emblem of the lagoon city and the entire Veneto region, the winged lion is linked not only to the figure of Saint Mark, patron saint of Venice, but also to the region's cultural tradition. It is no coincidence that it is the central element of the flag, first of the Serenissima and now of the Veneto region. The 2018 Storm Vaia, which struck the Alps and vast areas of Northern Italy, left a profound scar on the landscape and local communities. Artist Marco Martalar chose to salvage fallen wood, transforming it into a work that bridges past and present: what was destroyed is reborn as a symbol of resilience and hope. To strengthen the connection with the land, the artist used scrap wood from the vineyards of the World Heritage Hills to create the lion's mane, thus generating a symbolic fusion between nature and local culture. This work is also a reflection on the fragility of nature and the need to protect it. The use of materials recovered from devastation evokes the idea that even destruction can give rise to something extraordinary and powerful. The sculpture initiates a dialogue between ancient and contemporary, reviving a traditional symbol in a context of strong environmental and social relevance. In this sense, the winged lion becomes an emblem of adaptation, capable of addressing the challenges of the present, including climate change and biodiversity loss. Its presence recalls the regenerative power of nature and the landscape. The work, located in the municipality of Tarzo, was desired and commissioned by the Association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene.

The Agriturismo Le Noci, in loc. Costarut di Tarzo, is an old rural house, completely renovated respecting the surrounding environment. It stands on top of a hill, in a sunny position, within a 12-hectare property dedicated to woods and vineyards. The company preserves old varieties of apple trees (rosetta, bella di bosco) and "longhet" fig, as well as producing an ancient variety of "white pearl" corn and vegetables, raising sheep, donkeys, ponies, farmyard animals and bees. The church of Santa Giustina stands in an elevated position above the village of Soller. The current church dates back to the early 17th century on the reconstruction of a previous chapel already mentioned in 1258 and joined to the church of Tovena. Today a series of steps lead to the grassy churchyard, delimited by a stone wall. The bell tower is inserted into the elegant façade. The interior, with a single hall, reveals a taste that is anything but rural; on the vaulted ceiling stands out a fresco with the Apotheosis of Santa Giustina, the work of Egidio dall'Oglio. The altarpiece, stolen and replaced in 1976 with the current one by the painter Franco Verri, is also due to the artist from Cisonese. An inscription on the marble altar bears the date 1705 and mentions the figure of Don Stefano Soprana, the first parish priest of Tovena and supporter of the renovation work on this church, together with the local inhabitants and Count Guido Brandolini IX, who allegedly supported the expenses in atonement for the murder of an uncle.
