A very nice Malga (a mountain inn) with three rooms and 14 beds. Bookings can be made in advance. The Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes) is highly recommended.

With the bus line 246 from Merano to the Gampenpass. From there the 50s hiking route to Schönegg. Fantastic view. Then along the ridge to the fork in the road to the Felix hut. Here you can have a good meal. Then about 5 minutes to the Felix pond and then the descent to St. Felix. From there back with the 246 bus.

From the Mendel Pass at an altitude of approx. 1,350 m we head south (marker no. 500). The asphalt soon gives way to gravel - it goes through the forest on the Kalterer Berg, where there are many huts of the people of Eppan and Kalter. Past the Gentianhütte. The forest provides pleasant shade. After about 4 kilometers you reach the halfway hut. Continue following the 500 marker until you reach the Überetscher Hütte after approx. 8 km. This is located directly below the Roen, the summit of which can be reached via a via ferrata. From here you have a great view of the South Tyrolean lowlands and the southern wine route. The Überetscher Hut is comfortably furnished and has a very nice terrace with a great view. Many regional specialties are offered for food. It is worth it !

The Malga di Romeno has been completely renovated by the Municipality of Romeno, which owns it, without altering the structure of the 1920s. This is how the wooden veranda has remained, which invites you to relax in this beautiful clearing on the slopes of Monte Roen. The little church of Madonna delle Nevi was also built here. However, it would be a shame to miss the easy climb to the top of Monte Roen. The grandiose panorama amply rewards the little effort required to reach the summit: to the east the Dolomites, to the west the Brenta Group, at your feet 2000 m below the plain of the Adige Valley.
