The Castel Sallegg winery, with its three historic vineyards, offers excellent conditions for the production of top-quality wines. The Seehof on Lake Kaltern is ideal for heat-loving grape varieties such as Merlot, Lagrein, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Muscat. The VIGNA Bischofsleiten is the source of the award-winning Kaltern wine, while the Leisenhof, at an altitude of 500 meters, produces mainly white wines. The Preyhof predominantly grows Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. The quality of the wines depends largely on the expertise of the cellar master. The 1,000-year-old wine cellar, with its festive atmosphere, ensures optimal conditions for fermentation. Castel Sallegg combines tradition and innovation and was the first winery in South Tyrol to introduce lightweight bottles made from recycled glass and sommelier closures. Kaldiff Castle, like Enn Castle near Montan, probably dates back to the 12th century and the Lords of Enn, who were then the court lords of Neumarkt. In the 15th century they had it rebuilt, but a little later, in 1524, they gave it to the nobles of Payr von Altenburg: They converted Kaldiff into a residential complex and from then on called themselves Payr von Kaldiff. At the end of the 18th century a fire destroyed the castle. In 1870 the keep fell into disrepair, and hardly anything of the ring wall can be seen anymore. Castel Sallegg bears witness to a far-reaching and eventful past. It has shaped the landscape of the village of Mitterdorf, a hamlet of Caldaro Sulla Strada del Vino (South Tyrol), since the 16th century. At that time, Sallegg was built as a residence for the Lords of Sall. Excellent wines.

Today all that remains of Castelfeder is a few suggestive ruins. In the 13th century, however, it had been an important castle built by the lords of Enna. It stood on a hill between the current municipalities of Ora, Egna and Montagna. All around the castle ruins there is a larger area where there are remains of other buildings dating back to various eras. Everything is immersed in the so-called Castelfeder biotope, a protected natural area covering 108 hectares.
