This giant panoramic bench was created as part of the Big Bench Community Project, which began in Piedmont many years ago and is managed by a nonprofit foundation that guides local volunteers in the construction of these benches, which are now quite common throughout Italy but are also beginning to gain popularity across Europe. By law, they are built on a voluntary basis, including with contributions from sponsors, and the use of public funds is prohibited. They must be accessible to everyone 24/7, in natural, scenic locations.

Unexpectedly, coming out of the woods the view opens up with a beautiful panorama, recommended especially on a clear day. The place is barren and dry, I find the contrast with the woods all around enchanting: when you return to the trees you feel even more like the forest is full of life.

This point can be reached for example with a beautiful path from Lake Santa Colomba. From here you can take a tour all around the Monte Barco Biotope (passing through Palù Gross, Val del Termenac, Gac' de Mez, the Albiano porphyry quarry which briefly interrupts the peace but still interesting, Palù del Lavaggio and returning to starting point of the lap). A comfortable and relaxing full immersion walk in the woods, in a nature reserve.
