The Schaalsee is nestled within the biosphere reserve of the same name and, at over 70 meters deep, is considered Northern Germany's deepest clearwater lake. Those who wish to swim here should only do so at designated areas—for example, in Dargow, Lassahn, Seedorf, or at the Zarrentin lido. The water quality is excellent, perfect for a refreshing dip on the go. The protected natural environment surrounding the lake is rich in species and tranquil—ideal for those who appreciate peace, clean air, and clear water. The beer and coffee garden is a pleasant place to relax.

Stintenburg. A sea eagle circles over deep blue water, the trees to the left and right of the cobblestone avenue cast thick shadows, and once you cross the small bridge to the island in the Schaalsee, see the red bridge house on your left and the manor house in the distance in the park, this seems like the perfect place to forget the problems of the world. The poet Gottlieb Klopstock described the island as an "island of happier solitude" in his ode "Stintenburg" in 1767 after a visit. It's hard to imagine that German history, with all its shoals, is focused like a magnifying glass right here on the 400-meter-long and 190-meter-wide island. The fishery is located in Zarrentin, directly on Lake Schaalsee. A wide range of offerings awaits you: You can treat yourself to a delicious fish snack here. There are various types of smoked fish and also fish sandwiches, which you can enjoy from the terrace overlooking Lake Schaalsee. Custom-made fish platters are available for your celebration upon request. We have been awarded the regional label for the sale of fish and fish products from Lake Schaalsee (whitefish, pike, bream, tench, burbot, crayfish, roach, eel, carp / smoked fish / meatballs / aspic).
