The Fountain of the Moors is the work of the architect Sergio Venturi. The monument was built in 1632 by the will of the citizens of Marino, to commemorate the victory of Marcantonio II Colonna in the battle of Lepanto in 1571. The lava stone decorations were created by the marine sculptor Pompeo Castiglia and the stonemason Pietro Taccia.
