The former Knudshoved car ferry port was the starting point of the ferry service across the Great Belt between the Danish island of Funen and Zealand (Halsskov). This route was inaugurated on May 27, 1957, to provide an alternative to the congested Korsør-Nyborg railway ferry service, which often resulted in long waiting times. The ferry service was operated by the Danish State Railways (DSB). The first ferry in service, the "M/S Halsskov," was a double-decker ferry capable of carrying up to 200 cars and 1,000 passengers. Over the years, other vessels were used on this route, including one named after the port, the "Knudshoved." The era of the Knudshoved ferry port ended on June 14, 1998, when the fixed link across the Great Belt, the Storebæltsforbindelsen, was opened. Ferry service was discontinued, the port lost its original function and is now a lost place.

The old customs house (“Gammel Toldbod”) in Nyborg is located at Havnegade 2 and holds historical significance for the town. Today, the building houses the “Kiropraktorhuset Gammel Toldbod” (Chiropractic Practice Old Customs House). In earlier times, the building served as a customs house. This was because Nyborg was situated on an important waterway, the Great Belt, where ships had long been required to pay tolls to Denmark. The old customs house in Nyborg, like other similar buildings in Denmark, played a crucial role in monitoring shipping traffic to prevent the smuggling of goods. The building in its current form was constructed during a period when these customs controls were of paramount importance.

The Old Post Office in Nyborg is a historic building that formerly served as a post office, but has now been converted and renovated into a health center. It is located in the southeastern part of Nyborg, close to the motorway (E20), Nyborg Station, and Dyrehavevej. The property has been converted for commercial leases, including healthcare companies.
