Gudower See is a lake in the municipality of Gudow in the Schleswig-Holstein district of Herzogtum Lauenburg, in the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park. It borders directly on the town of Gudow to the north; its southern shore is wooded and surrounded by a closed reed bed. The lake is fed from the north by the Stichelsbach with water from two moorland areas and drains into Sarnekower See in the west via a 400 m long ditch. Another tributary comes from Segrahner See in the northeast. The water flows via Sarnekower See into the Hellbachtal and via the Möllner Lake District to the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. The lake, which is characterized as dystrophic but eutrophic, is 70.7 hectares in size and up to 9.7 meters deep with a water volume of 3.4 million cubic meters. The banks are 3.6 kilometers long and the catchment area covers almost 60 square kilometers.

A really great tradition that unfortunately no longer exists or is very rare nowadays. The last time we experienced this in real life was many years ago, around the turn of the millennium at Pentecost on Amrum, but not with horses, but with our motorbikes. We went there in a group over Pentecost and spent the night in a two-man tent on the campsite in wonderfully rustic surroundings. It was really great and the next day we took part in the "ring riding" with our motorbikes. A great event. I rode across the meadow at walking pace on my motorbike, Marlies stood behind me on the footrests and had to try to hit the rings with a spear...it was really difficult! You wouldn't believe it! We weren't very successful either, but we had a lot of fun. We could certainly repeat it here with bikes. Wouldn't that be an idea to revive this good, old tradition?

It's really pretty to look at and with your imagination you really think you've discovered the house of a fairy or a hobbit.
