Awosting Falls is always gorgeous, regardless of season and recent rainfall. It is an easy walk from the parking lot with other little falls and pools on the way up, making it a great trail for small kids. You can see the falls from both the top and bottom via a short trail.

Manorville Hills County Park is not as busy as other nearby parks. This area has a vast network of trails and is somewhat hilly. Seasonal blooms of mountain laurels can be enjoyed, but watch out for ticks in the summer.

Stewart State Forest, nestled in Orange County, New York, this expansive forest seamlessly blends wetlands, fields, and forest. With 22 miles of gravel roads and 18 miles of hiking trails, it's a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Engage in hiking, biking, horseback riding, hunting, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, bird watching, and fishing. Encounter a diverse wildlife population, from white-tailed deer and coyotes to bobcats, wild turkeys, great blue herons, and majestic hawks.

Rocky Point is a 6000-acre area of Pine Barrens Forest with open lands and a nice trail system. The State Forest has packed dirt trails, mostly flat, with the family-friendly trails having white marks, and the intermediate ones having yellow marks. The area is subject to seasonal closure for hunting, which begins the first Sunday of January and goes on for the remainder of the month.

Kempton Ledge is a great spot to stop to take in the scenery. There is a large opening in the trees here where you can see well beyond the cliff ledge. There are no signs to mark this viewpoint.

Lake Awosting is one of the sky lakes on the Shawangunk Mountain ridge. At this part of the lake, there is a large rock slab which slopes into the lake. This is a great place to take in the views across the lake. There is a roped off swimming area, which has lifeguards during the summer.

Lake Minnewaska is one of the sky lakes located on the Shawangunk Mountain ridge. It is a relatively small lake, and the surrounding trail is just under 2 miles in length. This trail can get quite busy with both walkers and cyclists, so be respectful of other trail users.

Awosting Falls is a beautiful place to stop and enjoy being out in nature. The falls are about 60 feet high and set amongst a dramatic cliff. Note that it can get quite busy here as it is only approximately 10 minutes walk from a car park.
