The history of Landpark Assisi begins on January 19, 1901. A woman then donated 45 hectares of land with 3 farms to the church. Her father had been cared for by brothers in Boekel for many years and she wanted to give something back. The brothers opened a nursing home for people with disabilities on the ground in Biezenmortel. On January 12, 1904, the first residents moved to the country park. Now 220 people live there. De Leemkuilen is a nature reserve of approximately eighty hectares southeast of Udenhout. The loam pits were created by digging loam for brick manufacture. The area has since been developed into a wetland and wetland area. The wells are rich in amphibians such as the tree frog, great crested newt and pinniped newt. Alder and willow wood is grown on the former dams. Pioneer plants on the bare banks include marsh dewclaw and creeping water plantain.
