The oldest dating of a church in Sluipwijk is from October 2, 1311. The Dutch count Willem II then determined that the residents of Nieuwenbroek had to use the church of “Sluupwijc”. Because the development of Sluipwuijk is dated to the end of the thirteenth century, it is assumed that this must have been the first church of Sluipwijk. It was probably a wooden church, which was later replaced by a stone building. The brick church became the new home of the reformed community of Sluipwijk and was consecrated on October 4, 1863.
