This special natural monument was created thousands of years ago. The Steinach River ate deeper and deeper through an extremely hard volcanic rock, which is called “quartz keratophyre”. The Steinachklamm geotope with its steep slopes and the narrow section of the gorge south of Wildenstein is definitely worth seeing.

Really nice tour through the Höllental. Nature is still fine there. Along the Selbitz stream you can listen to the rushing of the water and the chirping of the birds. Just gorgeous. Not to forget the rock formations to the right and left.

You simply have to see the Höllental when you visit the Franconian Forest.

Beautiful, easy to walk wide path along the Selbitz. There are also many cyclists and hikers on the way, so be careful.
