                The Hรถllental in the Franconian Forest is the section of the Selbitz river valley between Hรถlle and Blechschmidtenhammer in the Hof district. It is under nature protection. A pedestrian bridge over the valley, the Frankenwaldbrรผcke, has been planned since the mid-2010s. It should become the longest bridge of its kind.
                The narrow valley is traversed by the Selbitz, which after the end of the Hรถllental forms the border between Bavaria and Thuringia. From the end of the Second World War until the reunification in 1989, the border was not passable there. Geographically, the Hรถllental belongs to the municipalities of Lichtenberg, Issigau and Naila in the Hof district in Bavaria. HรถllentalstraรŸe, a private road that is closed to car traffic, runs along the western bank of the Selbitz. However, it can be used as a cycling and hiking trail. The Frankenweg, a long-distance hiking trail, leads through the Hรถllental and meets the Rennsteig at the end of the valley at Blankenstein. The Rรถhrensteig runs east of the Selbitz on the mountain slope on the pipeline, the water supply of a power plant. The plant at the northern end of the Hรถllental generates electricity with the water from the Selbitz, which is dammed up with a weir at the entrance to the valley in the south.
