You should allow yourself enough time to visit the island. There is much to see.

The Bird Island is an absolute highlight and a must-see. Get involved with nature a little; not everything is visible at first glance. Beavers from the 10 beaver families living there are more likely to be seen at dusk. But even during the day, there's buzzing, chirping, crawling, and flying everywhere.

There is a lot to see on the 1.5 km long circular route.

Great view from the observation tower over the lake. Here you can observe great waterfowl.

Absolutely worth seeing facility with castle and associated landscape park. Admission is currently €15 and contributes to the maintenance of the facility. The castle park was laid out by the "green" Baron Süsskind, who did almost all the planting here himself.

Here you can see the remains of a Roman arena and buildings of a former fort, the ramparts and the battlefield are clearly visible. The information about the "Arena" and the castle can be read on well-made display boards. A little further there are still some stone walls, very worth seeing.

The LBV environmental station Altmühlsee brings nature conservation and tourism into harmony. The LBV has been active at Altmühlsee for over 30 years and looks after the Vogelinsel nature reserve there.
