9월 8, 2025, Rastplatz im Wald an der A1
I'm not a fan of rating park benches as a highlight, but this is more of a shelter...or just a good resting place, so I'll give it a thumbs up.

9월 4, 2025, Bank der Träume Shelter
I'm not really a fan of highlighting "benches along the way" - but this is more of a weather shelter; and that can definitely be a highlight in the right weather conditions.

8월 8, 2025, Schloss Tremsbüttel
The Tremsbüttel Manor, also known as Tremsbüttel Castle, is a historic building in Tremsbüttel, Schleswig-Holstein. It was originally built as a manor house for a noble estate and is often referred to as a castle due to its castle-like appearance. The manor has a varied history with various uses, including a hotel until 2020 and a private clinic starting in 2023.

7월 20, 2025, Antik-Café
Café Antik is a lovely, rustic destination. The dining room and two smaller rooms invite you to linger, just like at grandma's ("The good old Stubbe"). In nice weather, you can also enjoy the garden. Large slices of cake, all handmade/homemade. Not cheap, €15 for two cups of coffee and two slices of cake. 🍰 This place is home to English junk, from coffee pots to Christmas decorations.

It's no longer worth a visit, as the castle can only be viewed from a distance through the fence. The gardens are also no longer open to visitors.

In addition to mud holes, you also always have to be aware of trees lying across the path.

1월 29, 2025, Trittau–Bad Oldesloe Rail Trail
Typical of such old railway lines, the route impresses with its many straight sections and the fact that there are hardly any inclines to overcome. You are also not affected by car traffic except at the points where you cross roads. The only section that runs parallel to a country road for about 3 km (between Sprenge and Mollhagen) is apparently currently being expanded (as of the end of 2024). All in all, a very scenic connection between Trittau and Bad Oldesloe. However, I recommend that everyone does not forget their repair kit, as the road surface with its small, sharp stones can very quickly lead to flat tires unless you have puncture-proof models. Accordingly, you hardly see any racing cyclists there.

1월 11, 2025, St. Peter and Paul Church Bad Oldesloe
The origins of today's church on the Kirchberg in Bad Oldesloe date back to 1150, when Bishop Vicelin consecrated the first stone church in Oldesloe and named it after the apostle Peter. The Vizelin Church was badly damaged in the war of Duke Erich V of Saxe-Lauenburg against Lübeck in 1415 and was rebuilt. In the years before 1537, the church burned down due to a lightning strike and could not be re-roofed until 1542. In the middle of the 18th century, the church was so dilapidated that it was demolished in 1757 and construction of the current late baroque building began, which was completed in 1763. In 1802, a turret with a small clock bell was built on the church, which initially had no tower, donated by the Danish King Christian VII. It was removed after a lightning strike in 1818. Until 1884, the bells hung in a separate bell tower. The tower in the neo-Romanesque-neo-Gothic style was added in 1886 and has since dominated the cityscape with a height of around 60 meters. 9월 23, 2024, Cold War Ammunition Bunkers
These are abandoned explosives bunkers from the Cold War era. Each one could contain up to 5 tons of explosives, secured behind 3 to 4 armored doors. These depots were not guarded but were checked regularly. The military strategy at the time was to delay the advance of an invading enemy as effectively as possible. The most common barriers were blast shafts, which were set into strategically important roads and bridges during construction. The initially empty shafts could be filled with explosives from such depot bunkers, which were always located nearby, in a very short time. This meant that the road or bridge could be blown up and made impassable "if necessary". Up until the 1990s, there were around 6,000 barriers prepared in this way throughout West Germany. Since then, these barriers have been abandoned and in many places have already been dismantled.

When it's dry the trail is fun - a bit overgrown - there are sometimes planks or cobblestones on the ground - extremely muddy when it has rained a lot (that's probably why there are planks and cobblestones).
