The Rocca di Garda is a steep rock on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, south of the town of Garda. A castle stood here 1000 years ago. Today, unfortunately, only a few stones of it can be seen.

The historical significance of this mountain dates back to the 5th century BC, when a castle was built on the summit during the Lombard era, which still gives the mountain its name today, even if there are hardly any traces of the castle itself left. The place name "Garda" is derived directly from this characteristic fortress (from the Old Germanic "Warda" or "Warte" i.e. "guard" or "fortress") and replaced the older Latin name Lacus Benacus. ATTENTION ⚠: from 8 p.m. the beach bar and the beach are closed and locked!! Great place for sunsets, but in early summer it clashes with the closing times. At the beginning of September it works great. (+-7:45 p.m. sunset). In the evening the water level rises. It looks very interesting how the water ripples around the headland.
