A very nice campsite is located here on Krautsand. Just over the dike and you're already at the Elbe River and the beautiful Krautsand beach. There's also a dog beach and a lifeguard on duty during the summer months. A small children's playground and a bistro are available. A large parking area, toilet facilities, and an open-air shower are also provided.

On June 17th, 2024, we asked a woman and her dog for directions. We wanted to know if you could cross the bridge on the Wischhafener Süderelbe by bike. But she didn't know her way around. She was probably on vacation in Krautsand. As we continued our journey, a couple came towards us on their bikes and told us that the bridge was closed. We then rode back with them. The woman with the dog on a leash was still standing on the path and we rode past her. Last of all, my wife. The dog snapped and bit my right calf. A relatively small wound became infected and we drove to the hospital in Flensburg on June 20th, 2024, where we were treated. We were advised not to continue our journey by bike. We therefore had to end our cycling trip. Perhaps someone can provide information about the dog owner or has met her. Middle-aged woman, 45 to 50 years old, long dark hair. Dog shoulder height approx. 50 cm, long, mottled black, brown, beige hair.

If I recognize the photos correctly, then the lake is part of the Ortbrookgraben. Several of my tours go along there, which I repeat occasionally.

There are also lakes on the airport circular route.

The campsite "Am Leuchtturm" is located directly on the Elbe dike. From there you can watch the shipping traffic on the Elbe to and from Hamburg.

Usually a quiet and idyllic place. Today, however, there was something like a "mini tornado", otherwise I can not explain the sudden wind and the turbulence on the water.

That's great for me because it's an area where I spent my childhood and youth. I planned the tour with a city map before I got to know tour planning with Komoot. On the first tours that I recorded, it was the tour with the greatest difference in altitude: 50 m. Anyone who follows me knows that I have recorded 900 tours in the meantime and the greatest difference in altitude is over 400 m on a tour at Gut Deutsch Nienhof.
