A very nice campsite is located here on Krautsand. Just over the dike and you're already at the Elbe River and the beautiful Krautsand beach. There's also a dog beach and a lifeguard on duty during the summer months. A small children's playground and a bistro are available. A large parking area, toilet facilities, and an open-air shower are also provided.

On June 17th, 2024, we asked a woman and her dog for directions. We wanted to know if you could cross the bridge on the Wischhafener Süderelbe by bike. But she didn't know her way around. She was probably on vacation in Krautsand. As we continued our journey, a couple came towards us on their bikes and told us that the bridge was closed. We then rode back with them. The woman with the dog on a leash was still standing on the path and we rode past her. Last of all, my wife. The dog snapped and bit my right calf. A relatively small wound became infected and we drove to the hospital in Flensburg on June 20th, 2024, where we were treated. We were advised not to continue our journey by bike. We therefore had to end our cycling trip. Perhaps someone can provide information about the dog owner or has met her. Middle-aged woman, 45 to 50 years old, long dark hair. During the half marathon we had around 10 degrees, a light breeze and occasional patches of sun, dry, and no snow.

The campsite "Am Leuchtturm" is located directly on the Elbe dike. From there you can watch the shipping traffic on the Elbe to and from Hamburg.

On the way between Elmshorn and the Rantzauer Forest, this lake is near the bridge under which the cycle path leads. The track is often muddy sometimes flooded by the Krückau. I would like to ask the responsible road warden and the responsible lock warden for an improvement. The driveway is designed in such a way that I prefer to push than drive.

In 1643 there was a dyke breach during a storm surge, which resulted in this small pond. It becomes very clear what kind of power water can develop.
