This wonderful, around seven hectare rose garden with around 900 varieties of roses is right next to the town hall and since it is a public park, you can look at the magnificent roses at any time and let yourself be bewitched by the scent.

And if you like, treat yourself to a little break on the beautiful terrace of the Parkhotel Rosarium with a wonderful view of the park.

Actually, my path led me past it. Then I turned off. I was excited! Beautiful! The many rose have a name - that's exciting. The bridge over the lake with the rose passage and the chairs - that is food for the soul. No wonder today was a wedding here on the sunny day.

The Rosarium in Uetersen is a very beautiful, well-maintained, and free park. Cycling is not permitted. However, you can also easily push your bike through the Rosarium. Very worthwhile, I can definitely recommend it.👍

The city of Uetersen is known around the world for its achievements in rose breeding. It is home to the largest rose breeding area in Germany. This means, in plain language, that around 20 million rose plants are grown here every year in large-scale operations, some of which are exported to the farthest corners of the world.

The individual varieties are grouped in beds in a predominantly geometric arrangement and embedded in manicured lawns around the mill pond.

A wide range of old and new park, bed, climbing, and standard roses is presented in a colorfully staggered display planting. Ground cover roses and low shrub roses can be found here. The generous water surface gives the Rosarium its unique flair. Birdlife also finds a preferred habitat here.
Small signs in the flowerbeds list the rose class, variety, breeder, and year of creation. This allows rose lovers to get an idea of their rose and assess its growth, blooms, and fragrance.

The Rose City celebrates annually with a Rose Festival.

The town of Uetersen deserves its nickname "Rose City."
