The Salzhaff is a shallow body of water and dries out large areas at low tide. The banks consist of mud, sandy beaches and wet meadows and offer a perfect habitat for many birds.

On a round trip around Rerik you automatically come to this mountain, from which you have a very beautiful view of Rerik, the lake and the adjacent pastures.

While hiking on the coastal path from Rerik, you can quickly and easily manage a small climb to the summit of six meters ;-). If that's too steep for you, you can also go around the Kuhberg by the water.

Shortly behind Roggow, a narrow but easy hiking trail leads along the Salzhaff to Rerik. The path leads along the lagoon and always offers beautiful views of the lagoon, the Wustrow peninsula and Rerik.

Here you can always hike along a longer path directly on and through the Salzhaff. There are many interesting and attractive views. The path is very narrow, but can be easily hiked.

In the north-east of the Wismar Bay lies the Salzhaff, scenically embedded in a chain of hills from the Ice Age. Together with the offshore Wustrow peninsula and an approximately one kilometer wide strip of mainland, it has been part of the "Coastal Landscape Wismar Bay" conservation area with a size of 2022 hectares since 1990.
