From the path you have a great view of the Salzhaff, the part of the Bay of Mecklenburg that is almost separated from the Baltic Sea by the spit of two peninsulas. The salinity of the brackish water is 12 per thousand. The salt marshes are habitats for rare animals and plants.

Every day, the Molli travels through the main shopping street of Bad Doberan, passing the oldest horse racing track on the European continent, to Heiligendamm station with a cheerful jingle. Here, the train conductor still controls the points by hand and winds down the barrier arms when a train approaches. At the terminus station in Kühlungsborn West, the Molli Museum invites you on a trip into railway history. The entrance is in the adjacent museum café, which is open daily. Entry to the museum is free, but donations are requested to maintain it.
