It's nice to get to the top. But not recommended for a gravel bike. Some gradients range from 19-20%. Pushing is recommended if you don't have a mountain bike.

There's something to keep in mind if you want to cycle here. The path from and to Maria Rain is very steep, and the gravel is slippery, even though it looks great. I just about managed the uphill; the first right-hand bend is really tough. I walked downhill another time because I wasn't sure I'd be able to stop for oncoming traffic. Towards Schneidbach, it's steep, but the surface is usable; however, heavy rain could wash away parts of the path. In some places, the holes have been filled.

Approaching the ruins from Fleschützen, it was quite unsatisfying. Access to the inner castle is blocked, and the surrounding walls are overgrown. It's impossible to get a clear view. The ruins are apparently neglected and have been left to their natural state. The sign also suggests this. A shame.

The view up there is great. Unfortunately it's very built up and not really enjoyable because of the cable car and e-bike tourists. At least in perfect weather and during the day. So I recommend walking/cycling there when it's only a little cloudy or it's late afternoon/early evening.

As of November 5th, 2023: The section is a pleasure to enjoy on MTB and on foot. Things seem to have improved since the 2021 slide. Fallen trees are always to be expected.
